VACUUMSCHMELZE (VAC), Europe’s leading manufacturer of rare earth permanent magnets and magnetic solutions, announces that their range of permanent magnet materials can be produced in full compliance with the U.S. Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS 225.7018, 10 U.S.C. 2533c, ‘The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act – NDAA 2019’).
The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 (NDAA 2019) includes a ban on rare earth permanent magnets in products for national defense purposes, including neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) and samarium-cobalt (SmCo) originating in China, North Korea, Russia, and Iran. VAC’s European-based production fulfills all requirements to comply with DFARS 225.7018, 10 USC. 2533c. VAC can certify production conformity of the whole family of NdFeB materials, traded under VACODYM® as well as SmCo grades available as VACOMAX®.
“We are pleased to announce a fully compliant offering of rare earth [block] materials, which can be processed to finished magnets. We welcome the opportunity to work with you and your current supply chain to ensure compliance,” says Jeremy Martin, General Manager VAC Magnetics LLC.
