To celebrate International Women’s Day, Organon across Asia Pacific has committed to furthering the economic empowerment of women by partnering with Half the Sky – a new career platform that supports women in facilitating purposeful interactions and advancing their careers with companies focused on the diverse needs of women.
Through this partnership, Organon aims to build meaningful connections with underrepresented professional women, and create career opportunities that align with their purpose of delivering a better and healthier every day for every woman.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme of “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment” calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all and a future where no one is left behind.
Over the past decade, there have been important gains for women at every level of the corporate pipeline, particularly in senior leadership. Almost 30% of C-suite leaders are now women. Despite this progress, it remains important that organisations continue to support women in their ambition to achieve career success and make a significant contribution to an organizations’ productivity, regardless of her life stage.
Organon has one of the most diverse Board of Directors in the pharmaceutical industry. 70% of the board are female— higher than any S&P 500 healthcare company, and they are also represented in diversity of industry, experience, age, race, and geographical locations.
Across Organon’s Asia Pacific markets, the female participation across all levels of employment are equally as impressive – 63% of the workforce, and 53% of managers are female. In 2024, 58% of successors were female and women had a 4.4% promotion rate compared with 2.2% for males.
Organon is focused on ensuring that policies such as flexible work arrangements, paid parental leave, equal pay initiatives and wellbeing programs support all employees, and is working with Half the Sky to increase female leadership and representation in the workforce at every level.
“At Organon, we have created a culture where every employee can bring their best self to work. I firmly believe that diversity and gender equality improve workplace and organizational performance across a range of different metrics, including decision making, collaboration, attraction and retention of talent,” said Andreas Daugaard Jorgensen, Managing Director, Organon Asia Pacific.
“Through this partnership, we aim to continue to ensure balanced female representation into all levels of leadership and decision-making positions and create opportunities that align with Organon’s purpose of delivering a better and healthier every day for every woman”, Andreas concluded.
Commenting on the partnership, Vivek Soares, Country Lead, India and South Asia at Organon said “At Organon, we believe that empowering women is key to driving innovation and creating meaningful impact across communities. This initiative is a step towards our commitment to breaking down barriers and providing women with the tools, resources, and opportunities to excel in their careers. By investing in women’s professional growth, we’re fostering a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.”
