According to a report from Japanese newspaper Nikkei, the two companies are in talks about a potential merger. By combining their resources, Nissan and Honda aim to strengthen their position in the electric vehicle (EV) market, particularly in competition with global players like Tesla and Chinese EV manufacturers.

Honda and Nissan, the second and third largest automakers in Japan, are facing competition from Toyota, the worlds largest car manufacturer. A merger between the two would make them the worlds third-largest automaker by volume.

As stated by Nissan and Honda, they are considering various possibilities for future collaboration, but they have made it plain that no decisions have been made as of yet.
