During A Morning with Vietnam War Veteran Tom Equels, attendees will hear powerful war stories and insights into the challenges faced by veterans, including the importance of mental health support. Equels will share excerpts from his debut novel, The Horsemans Tale, which not only highlights Vietnam memories (like the forgotten legacy of Camp Lejeune) but also explores unique healing methods for mental health and PTSD, such as creative expression and equine therapy, making it a compelling narrative that speaks directly to the challenges faced by those who have served.

Horses create a special bond that really supports mental health. They offer companionship and understandingsomething veterans truly need, Equels explains. His experiences as a knighted member of the Equestrian Order of Saint Gregory and a combat-wounded veteran inform his advocacy for mental health awareness among veterans.

This event offers an opportunity for the community to come together, reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans, and learn about the importance of mental health and healing practices that can support their well-being.
