The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Housing Authority:

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) today (October 1) held the National Day 75th Anniversary@Domain event at Domain shopping mall in Yau Tong. The Secretary for Housing and Chairman of the HA, Ms Winnie Ho, the Permanent Secretary for Housing and Director of Housing, Miss Rosanna Law, and the Under Secretary for Housing, Mr Victor Tai, attended the event to share the happiness of National Day celebrations with the public on this significant commemorative occasion.

Under the theme of dreams, there were four highlight events: a string performance, Dream on Stage Finals, a fashion show and an indoor drone show. The event demonstrated the pride of the development of the motherland from the building of dreams, pursuing them and realising them, to looking towards the future.

The Hong Kong String Orchestra opened the event playing a number of pieces of Chinese folk music. Then, five teams that had advanced from the preliminary round gave their best at the Dream on Stage finals after coaching and training by professional instructors. Miss Law served as the judge and presented the awards.

An elderly fashion show featured Ms Ho leading 11 elderly people, from different public housing estates, wearing costumes, rich in Chinese elements, designed by the School of Fashion and Textiles of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The participants fully devoted themselves to realise their dreams. Miss Law and Mr Tai also joined the catwalk wearing traditional Chinese costumes. The finale was an indoor Drone Grand Show by 100 drones which helped brighten the venue, bringing the public together to share the joy of the National Day.

The HA hoped that through the colourful and interactive National Day celebratory event, members of the public could appreciate the unique charm of fine traditional Chinese culture.
