Business coach for photographers hosts a two-day summer camp for Peak Performance Coaching portrait photographers in Charlottesville, VA.

The Photography Business Institute recently hosted a two-day summer camp for photographers on July 23-24, 2024, at Amy Yang Photography in Charlottesville, VA. The event brought together 65 Peak Performance Coaching members, all dedicated to advancing their photography skills and building successful businesses.

Amy Yang, a respected Peak Performance Coach, opened her studio for this exclusive event. The first day kicked off with an observational session where Yang photographed a family of four, followed by a session with newborn premature twins. These live demonstrations allowed attendees to learn firsthand about the nuances of portrait photography and working with clients during a session.

On the second day, the focus shifted to selling wall portraits. Attendees reconvened at Yang’s studio to watch her and Sarah Petty, founder of the Photography Business Institute, present the photographs Yang created to the clients and facilitate the ordering process. These sessions were followed by a Q&A, where attendees gained insights into the sales process and learned effective strategies for working with the client on making decisions on portrait art for their home.

In the afternoon, participants ventured into the Charlottesville community in small groups to create content for their business social media pages, using the real-world environment to sharpen their marketing skills and increase their online presence.

The event concluded with a happy hour reception at Tonic in Charlottesville, co-sponsored by White House Custom Color (WHCC). Attendees enjoyed cold drinks, many hors d’oeuvres, and networking opportunities, rounding out the experience with camaraderie and celebration.

Sarah Petty expressed her excitement about the success of the summer camp: “Our Peak Performance Coaching members left the event with renewed inspiration and practical knowledge that will propel their businesses forward. This event exemplified our commitment to fostering both the creative and business sides of boutique portrait photography.”
