ExcelPrep is excited to announce a training and practicum program for teachers and interventionists in Central Illinois. This Autism Behavior Practitioner is an apprenticeship in collaboration with the East Central Illinois Workforce Board and the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission. “This program was created to support the learning and social success of neurodiverse learners ages 5-13 and as a training resource within Central Illinois. As a member of national and state boards focused on speech-language pathology and quality indicators of autism intervention, it was exciting to formulate this apprenticeship in collaboration with the East Central Illinois Workforce and CCRPC,” says Landria Seals Green, Executive Director of ExcelPrep.

“Access to education, training, coaching, and mentorship are often pain points for systems and people that mean well. In thinking about systematic training, this team considered how teacher and interventionist training could be conceptualized in Central Illinois and simultaneously develop the workforce,” says Taylor Black, Apprenticeship Specialist. This apprenticeship is hybrid and lends educators and individuals with geographical and family systems support through a sustainable model of learning classes, hands on coaching, and focused mentorship. It is exciting to bring people and organizations in the Champaign-Urbana community training and coaching in autism centered in intervention, best practices, cultural responsibility, and family systems. The first cohort will begin August 2024. The goal of this Apprenticeship is to empower and add to the workforce through job creation for future and current behavior analysts and interventionists.
