Lakewood, Colorado – WEBWIRE –

Trailbreak Partners and Lakewoods Economic Development Division are pleased to announce the highly anticipated demolition of the Holiday Shopping Center at the southwest corner of West 10th Ave. and Sheridan Blvd. The demolition ceremony took place on Tuesday, July 25th at 955 N. Sheridan Blvd., marking a significant milestone in the ongoing revitalization efforts of the area. This momentous occasion marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Two Creeks neighborhood and the West Colfax corridor of Lakewood.

While the Holiday Shopping Center once served as a vital shopping center decades ago, the building was no longer safe for occupancy after years of neglect and deterioration. In October 2021, Trailbreak Partners acquired the buildings and 2.5 acres. In partnership with TOD Properties, Davis Partnership (Architect), and ARCO Murray (Builder), they plan to build a 361-unit apartment building that will breathe new life into the community. The seven-story apartment building will include one level of underground parking, a pool, a full sized fitness center, and multiple public amenity spaces for residents.

The demolition ceremony was attended by esteemed members of the Lakewood City Council and the Lakewood Reinvestment Authority, representatives from the Two Creeks Neighborhood Organization, as well as members of the public who have long advocated for the redevelopment project.

During the ceremony, Mayor Adam Paul and Doug Elenowitz, co-founder of Trailbreak Partners, spoke about the neighborhoods past, present, and future. They emphasized the vision behind the redevelopment project and the anticipated positive impact it will have on the community. This demolition really creates progress for the community by removing a longstanding negative impact on the neighborhood, Mayor Adam Paul said. Im thrilled to see this innovative economic development pilot program for addressing vacant buildings in the city get underway.

Attendees had the opportunity to witness the symbolic act of demolition with a wrecking ball that tore down a wall, and dignitaries used golden sledgehammers to further demolish what remained of the wall.

The demolition ceremony was a moment of reflection, gratitude, and excitement. Trailbreak Partners expresses its gratitude to all community members who attended the event and contributed to the success of the project thus far. They eagerly look forward to embarking on this new chapter.
