Meladul Haq Ahmadzai, CEO of Taleam, sheds light on the critical challenges faced in delivering humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

The world is grappling with the pressing issue of addressing the severe shortage of humanitarian aid in war-torn Afghanistan for nearly two years. Melad Ahmadzai, the esteemed CEO of Taleam, acknowledges the immense challenge of providing much-needed assistance to the deserving beneficiaries.

In the past couple of years, Afghanistan has been plagued by a series of devastating disasters, including extreme drought, flooding, and ongoing conflicts. The international community finds itself confronted with the daunting task of delivering aid to the Afghan people, especially when policies clash with international law.

Ahmadzai states that governments cannot function like non-profit organizations; they must always act as evaluators and be held accountable at the highest level. The pool of funds remains with the international community, eagerly awaited by Afghans. However, uncertainty lingers regarding the timing of this much-needed assistance.

Despite the recent takeover by the opposition force in August 2021, the landscape in Afghanistan remains largely unchanged.

Ahmadzai emphasizes the need for action rather than mere words. He asserts, “It is an arduous task for all entities involved to navigate through the current measures and deliver aid effectively.”

With his extensive academic background, holding dual degrees in Global Health and Public Health, Ahmadzai has dedicated his research primarily to Afghanistan and other Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).

He concludes, “It is imperative that the international community rises to the occasion, finding innovative solutions and working together to alleviate the suffering of the Afghan people.”
