Hospital Authority announces senior appointment (with photo)

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson announced the following senior appointment today (December 15):

     Dr Michael Wong will be appointed as Director (Quality and Safety) with effect from December 19.

     Dr Wong is a specialist in haematology and haematological oncology, and has also attained a fellowship qualification in pathology. He is currently the Chief Manager (Cluster Performance) in Head Office. Dr Wong has solid experience in clinical services and hospital management with wide exposure at cluster and Head Office levels.

     Prior to his present position, he was Chief Manager of Kowloon West Cluster, Deputy Hospital Chief Executive of North Lantau Hospital and Deputy Hospital Chief Executive (Operation) of Princess Margaret Hospital. He has managed and led a number of programmes, including bed management for COVID-19, establishment of the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre as well as other community isolation facilities, co-ordination of the Mainland medical support team and performance monitoring of public hospitals.

     The HA Chairman, Mr Henry Fan, and the HA Chief Executive, Dr Tony Ko, congratulate Dr Wong on his new appointment and wish him every success in taking up the new role.
