ellesse UK has created a limited-edition ‘nameless’ trainer, featuring artistic designs by celebrity footwear customiser MattB Customs, which is only available through the Google app.
MattB Customs, whoÂ’s previously collaborated on projects with Ed Sheeran and Stella McCartney, has created the customised designs using the ellesse classic white trainer.
As the trainer doesn’t have a name, those interested in getting a pair need to first track down ‘secret’ posters around London and Manchester before using Google’s ‘Find That Thing’ feature to find the trainers online.
Once they find the poster, they need to use Google’s visual search tool to locate the trainers. This is done by tapping their phone camera icon, uploading their image and then filling in their details at ellesse.com/google. People lucky enough to spot one of the rare ‘Find That Thing’ posters can also win a pair of the one-off sneakers.
Talking about the one-of-a-kind collaboration, that blends digital culture with tangible art, MattB said, “My inspiration for the design came from the idea of connection through the internet. We wanted to explore this idea and, as a team, we collaborated on one canvas piece of art, mixing different mediums and art forms of printing, painting and digital. These one-of-a-kind custom trainers will never be recreated and it’s even cooler that they have to be seen to be searched.”
