Now retired, Mr. O’Neill led a long and successful career as an engineer for more than 49 years, where he specialized in designing military sites, hightech, data centers, commercial facilities, hospitals, clinics and other medical facilities throughout the state of California. Commencing his career with Rogers Engineers in 1973, he subsequently served as the vice president, operations manager and chief engineer for SAI Engineers, as the western regional manager for Siemens Energy and Automation, and as the director of the consulting engineering group of electrical and telecommunication for Navigant Consulting. Mr. O’Neill also served as the senior engineer and telecommunications engineer for Glumac International between 2001 and 2005 and for Mazzetti and Associates between 2006 and 2008, and, just prior to retiring, was the senior electrical engineer for Rex Moore Electrical Contractors and Engineers from 2008 to 2020.

Over the course of his professional career, Mr. O’Neill transitioned from working exclusively in electrical engineering to expanding his expertise into electrical telecommunications and audiovisual as a registered communications distribution designer (RCDD). Grateful to have led such a rewarding profession, Mr. O’Neill notes several mentors for guiding him, including fellow electrical engineer, Elmer Kirk, and his former supervisor, John Wood. He has also notably expressed his gratitude by providing mentorship to younger engineers throughout his profession. Among these efforts, Mr. O’Neill produced a countywide music program that was instrumental in diversifying high school seniors and the continuation of the high school program where he was actively involved. He also successfully trained individuals on classical guitar and developed an alternative method to write music.

Mr. O’Neill maintains membership with Rotary International, where he has also served as a local president on numerous occasions. Through the organization, Mr. O’Neill especially enjoyed helping students acclimate to their new environment during their freshman year of high school and freshman year of college. Recognizing his achievements, Mr. O’Neill has been named to the Who’s Who of Top Engineers.

An alumnus of California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Mr. O’Neill received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1972. Highly qualified in his field, he received credentials as a licensed electrical engineer in the states of California and Nevada. Mr. O’Neill also received certification in telecommunication and audiovisual. To remain aware of developments in his field, he has been a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
