Oscar Case, author of Blood and Blazes in Upamona began writing near 70 years old, producing several books on family history and genealogy before switching to Western fiction. He has written a dozen Westerns, including a book of short stories. Blood and Blazes in Upamona was his third novel and part of a series set in the vicinity of Upamona, a fictional town located in the foothills of the Uinta Mountains in northeast Utah.
