Goodera runs #EqualityKnowsNoBoundaries – a virtual volunteering campaign, in partnership with global nonprofits to support the rights of people of color globally.

Goodera ran #EqualityKnowsNoBoundaries – Reducing inequalities, advancing human rights campaign, and allowing individuals, corporates, and nonprofits  to reflect and take action on civil rights issues across the globe.

As part of the campaign, Goodera engaged corporate teams in impactful virtual volunteering opportunities and interacted with leading nonprofit leaders that support the rights of people of colour.

Every year on January 17th, the world celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day to acknowledge the problems faced by black community and people of colour. “It goes back to historical content. We have an extensive history in America. Unfortunately, as we know, people of colour were enslaved in America.” says Constance, a member of the Sleeves for Needs“The reality is that America has still not come through on its dreams and promises. So until that happens, we have to stay on the ground and continue to use our most powerful tool – freedom of speech. We need to raise our voices collectively to let our country know that we need changes now.”

To celebrate MLK Day, Goodera partnered with 30 nonprofits to:

  • Make motivational cards of love for BIPOC kids – Volunteers will design motivational cards to show their support to the children of the African American community.

  • Spread joy and goodness amongst children by sending them Hope Hero kits for MLK Day – Volunteers will participate in distributing Super Hero kits to spread compassion and joy amongst children.

  • Record audiobooks with black protagonists to inspire kids of African heritage – Volunteers, along with their teams, will audio record stories, short poems, or fables with black protagonists and, or written by Black authors.

The campaign #EqualityKnowsNoBoundaries enabled corporate volunteers to choose from Goodera’s list of curated experiences, schedule the experiences for a time that works for their teams, and volunteer to make an impact for the communities in need.

As part of the campaign, 30 of Goodera’s nonprofit partners booked 120+ hours of volunteer participation. The nonprofits engaged over 100 corporate volunteers, raised funds through the Dollars of Doers program, and developed long-term volunteering relations with 6 corporate companies.

“The major challenge is appropriate versus inappropriate behaviour. We uplift each other by appreciating each other in our career advancements. However, the real challenge is holding each other accountable for the changes that are required to bring a positive impact to society. Only when we hold each other accountable, can we create an environment that is conducive for our younger generations to thrive.” says  Neda Renee Kellog, Executive Director, Project DIVA International.

Encouraged by the success of the #EqualityKnowsNoBoundaries campaign, Goodera has launched its portfolio of events for February to focus on Black Hostory Month, International Day of Women and Girls in Science to recognize the role of women and girls in science, not only as beneficiaries, but also as agents of change.
