Donabelle Pineda, author of “The Dragon and Rat Tale”  (Authorhouse, 2018), will be featured at The Festival of Books in Spring 2022. This book tells the story of two creatures who were destined to find true love by means of defending their kingdom and learning more about themselves through each other. The story begins with a dragon who was once selfish and unkind and had to live by the spell of a peasant whom he refused to help.

This is a journey of a dragon who unexpectedly finds a friend in arms, who he had crossed paths with a rat who in turn also was cursed to find true love so she can transform back to becoming a human, and return to her kingdom as Princess Arabella. A heartwarming story of two creatures from entirely different worlds have bonded, only to realize their true purpose.

Given the author’s background, it’s no surprise that she’d come to create this fictional fantasy. Donabelle always had a passion for writing. She  grew up in San Francisco where she started writing nursery rhymes for her English class “ Show and Tell” during her high school years. Now, she is a grandmother of three, she reads to her grandchildren a bedtime story everytime they go to bed.

What’s more, it’s not just a bedtime story, but her own version of a fairy tale narrated in her own voice. Not only have her grandchildren read and enjoyed the story, but “The Dragon and Rat Tale” picture book also holds valuable lessons in laying a strong foundation for children, and this is the legacy she ought to leave them with.
