MOSLEY, the newest animated film from Paramount Home Entertainment and Saban Films, will release today in the US in select theaters as well as streaming. Written, Directed and Starring Kirby Atkins (BFG, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius), the film is a decades-long passion project from Atkins and is the perfect holiday/family film that tells the tales of Mosley and his family who are four-legged Thoriphants. They discover that they belong to a heroic tribe of two-legged giants, and we are taken on an epic journey as Mosley is determined to join them and prove he is more than just a farm animal. MOSLEY was nominated for “Best Animated Feature Film” at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, The Burbank International Film Festival, The Festival of Cinema, NYC, and the Ottawa International Animation Festival. MOSLEY won the Golden Dolphin Award for Best Animated Feature Film at China’s 13th Xiamen International Animation Festival. The film is currently in consideration for a Golden Globe for Best Animated Film.
The film has a unique backstory, filmed in New Zealand as the first New Zealand/China Film Group Co Production, Atkins spent years crafting the story and recorded audio of his then 7-year-old daughter as the character Rue. When the film was finally completed, sound designers were able to use her original recordings (edited for quality) and she was kept in the film as Rue.
Writer/Director/Star Kirby Atkins wrote the screenplay and plays the title role, starring with the all-Kiwi cast of John Rhys-Davies (LOTR), Lucy Lawless (Xena, Warrior Princess), Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords), and Termuera Morrison (Star Wars). The Score was created for the film by Alain Mayrand (No Letting Go, Ender’s Game).
