During this time, Mr. Barbatano was recruited by major law firms and financial advisory or investment firms to handle conflict cases or act as local counsel in a number of large cases that included the representation of a General Motors affiliate as the plan sponsor in a multi-billion dollar plan of reorganization in Japan.

As a shareholder and partner with Shaw Fishman Glantz & Towbin LLC from 2011 to 2013, Mr. Barbatano led a number of complex and lucrative engagements, including corporate restructurings, creditor representations and a litigation trusteeship. He also contributed to Northern Illinois University College of Law as a member of the board of visitors and the chairman of the dean’s strategic plan subcommittee. He later made an impact with Williams, Williams, Rattner & Plunkett, PC as the practice group leader of the firm’s creditors and debtors’ rights practice from 2013 to 2017. Mr. Barbatano concluded his active private practice as the managing partner of the Barbatano Law Offices PLLC in Detroit from 2017 to 2020.
