Fatal traffic accident in North Point

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in North Point this afternoon (September 10) in which a 76-year-old man died.

     At around 2.37pm, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 51-year-old man was travelling along Marble Road westbound. When turning right to Shu Kuk Street, it reportedly knocked down the 76-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious injuries in his lower body, the man was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 3.44pm.

     The MGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is underway.
