ExCo Non-official Members congratulate Chu Man-kai and Chan Ho-yuen on winning silver and bronze medals at Tokyo Paralympics

The Non-official Members of the Executive Council (ExCo Non-official Members) today (September 5) expressed their warmest congratulations to Hong Kong athletes Chu Man-kai and Chan Ho-yuen for winning a silver medal and a bronze medal for Hong Kong in the Badminton Men’s Singles SH6 and Badminton Men’s Singles WH2 events at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games respectively. They also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the coaches and the badminton team.
The Convenor of the ExCo Non-official Members, Mr Bernard Chan, said, “Badminton becomes an official sport for the first time at the Games. By overcoming one hurdle over another throughout the series of matches, Chu Man-kai seized the opportunity to demonstrate his excellent skills and captured a silver medal in the event, while Chan Ho-yuen, with his outstanding performance, has lived up to expectations by winning a bronze medal in the event. They both made history for Hong Kong.”
“With great determination, the two athletes overcame difficulties and carved out a niche of their own. We should learn from their tenacity and persistence in pursuing dreams.”
The Hong Kong, China Delegation won a total of five medals, including two silver and three bronze medals, in the Games. The ExCo Non-official Members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the athletes for their efforts. Regardless of their results, the athletes fully demonstrated their indomitable perseverance during the competitions. The Members hope that Hong Kong athletes will continue to shine at the international sports arena in future.
