Mr. Hollings has garnered a laudable reputation as a real estate investor and manager of five family-owned real estate holding companies. Instrumental to his success has been his academic background in finance and multi-faceted business experience. This included commercial banking, software development, management consulting, securities and investment banking. Mr. Hollings also distinguished himself through a 15-year tenure as a manager for the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, a nonprofit educational association based in the U.S.
Aligned with several financial services, software development, business strategy and information technology consulting companies, Mr. Hollings’ career began to take shape in 1975, when he served as the assistant vice president at Citizens and Southern National Bank of South Carolina. Relocating to New York City, he secured roles with several prestigious organizations, including Booz Allen & Hamilton as a senior associate and Paine Webber Capital Markets Inc. as a vice president. Mr. Hollings involvement in trading systems automation at Paine Webber led to his role as president of Integrated Analytics, Inc., one of the first artificial intelligence firms on Wall Street. Moving again for a job opportunity in Atlanta, Mr. Hollings joined Emory Hospitals Information Services as its director of client services from 1991 until 1993. Additionally, he served as a founding president of International Aquatech LLC and as the manager of Desarollo Camaronero Del Pacifico in the Republic of Panama. Mr. Hollings attributes his multi-faceted success to his quality education, as well as his native talents as a polymath and autodidact.
A gifted writer, Mr. Hollings notably self-published “Cruising Croatia,” and co-authored “Combined Clinical and Financial Database for Health Services Research” along with William S. Weintraub, MD. He has also contributed articles to various scholarly journals and has been published through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and IBM Corporation on such subjects as finance, artificial intelligence and data security. His MIT thesis was “The Effect of Debt Indexation on the Value of the Firm.” During the course of his career, Mr. Hollings was active as a member of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
In retirement, Mr. Hollings manages his investment portfolio, pursues his avocation as a landscape photographer and assists his wife, Mary Villon de Benveniste, a gifted portrait artist whose works hang on three continents.
Mr. Hollings received a Bachelor of Arts in history at Rice University in 1967. He also completed a Master of Science in management at MIT in 1973. After graduating from college, Mr. Hollings served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy between 1967 and 1971 and was notably a ship’s navigator and department head on the USS Farragut, a guided missile frigate, and a gunnery officer in Vietnam aboard the USS Boston, a heavy cruiser.
