LegCo congratulates Wong Ting-ting for winning table tennis bronze medal at Paralympic Games

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     Hong Kong’s table tennis athlete Ms Wong Ting-ting today (August 28) won a bronze medal in the Women’s Singles TT11 event at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, claiming the first medal for Hong Kong, China Delegation at this year’s Paralympics. The President of the Legislative Council (LegCo), Mr Andrew Leung, on behalf of all LegCo Members, issued a letter to congratulate Ms Wong. He also expresses gratitude to her training team.

     Mr Leung said, “Ms Wong had an outstanding performance at her debut in the Paralympic Games, during which she edged out the last Paralympic gold medallist in the group match. She had played a brilliant game with calmness and great motivation. This impressed all of us.” 

     Mr Leung also extended his best wishes and encouragement to other Hong Kong Paralympic athletes. “Regardless of the results, we should learn from the athletes who have all displayed perseverance. I hope our athletes will enjoy every match while they strive for victory in face of athletes around the world,” Mr Leung added. He believed that with Hong Kong people’s passion for the Olympic Games going on, the public will continue to support and cheer for the Hong Kong team.
