Crimson Tide, SEC Teams Prove to be the Top Major College Programs in Both Search and Sales Activity
Analytic Index, a leading provider of e-commerce data solutions for brands and agencies, today released its report on the most popular college football teams in the United States. According to online search and sales data compiled and evaluated from several major eCommerce platforms including Amazon and Walmart.com, Analytic Index reports that The University of Alabama Crimson Tide are the most popular team in the nation, compiling an aggregate score of 99.7 percent relevancy. SEC rival University of Florida Seminoles finished second with a score of 99.5 relevancy. The University of Notre Dame finished third with a score of 99.3, just edging the University of Georgia Bulldogs and The Ohio State University Buckeyes.
“Late August is the time when many sports fans turn their attention to college football, and this year is certainly no exception,” explained Nathan Rigby, co-founder and president of Analytic Index. “We have seen strong search activity for several weeks, and as the season draws closer, we are noticing that many consumers are converting from shoppers to buyers. This is a trend that should continue as the season progresses.”
According to Rigby, SEC Football stands out due to the remarkable popularity of member teams. Along with the popularity of National Champion Alabama, the interest in Florida, Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M and other teams translate into consistent eCommerce activity.
“The data indicates that SEC fans continue to spend money on souvenirs representing their favorite teams. The SEC and its member teams have done a fantastic job in building a brand identity that continues to drive traffic and generate dollars. It really sets the league apart from other college football leagues,” he said.
