Toronto, Ontario Aug 14, 2021 (Issuewire.com) – The war in Afghanistan is ending with the Taliban coming to power after 20 years of fighting in the war-torn country. Recent media reports show that the Taliban have captured many provinces and could get control of Kabul city within a few days.
The war was an adventure for Canada to pursue, according to Taleam’s CEO, Melad Ahmadzai. He says, “This war was simply an adventure for Canadians and other internationalists to explore”.
Meanwhile, the end of the war comes after former US President gives the go signal to Taliban for a peace settlement.
But Canadian official blames the war in Afghanistan on a proxy-war by Pakistan. Chris Alexander of Canada stated “Pakistan’s proxies are committing war crimes & atrocities across Afghanistan.”
Canada and the US spent over a trillion dollars combined on their personnel salaries and equipment during the combat mission in Afghanistan.
Ahmadzai states that poor Afghans didn’t even receive a single penny. He states, “Unfortunately, the Afghan poor people never received a single penny nor any help even though they [Canada forces] were there to help them.”
With the Taliban gradually overtaking many provinces, there is a fear that schools and hospitals even in Kabul city would be completely destroyed.
Ahmadzai concludes, “We should ask ourselves was the adventure really worth it?”
