ExCo Non-official Members congratulate Cheung Ka-long on winning Olympic gold medal for Hong Kong

The following is issued on behalf of the Executive Council Secretariat:
      
     The Non-official Members of the Executive Council (ExCo Members) today (July 27) expressed their warmest congratulations to Hong Kong fencer Cheung Ka-long for winning the first gold medal for the Hong Kong, China Delegation in Men’s Foil Individual at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. They also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to his coach and the fencing team.
      
     The Convenor of the ExCo Members, Mr Bernard Chan, said, “With great perseverance and determination, Cheung Ka-long remained calm in adversity and displayed outstanding skills during the match. In winning the gold medal, he has made history for Hong Kong, and the people of Hong Kong are all proud of his remarkable achievement.”
      
     The ExCo Members hope that the Hong Kong, China Delegation will continue to unleash their potential and achieve outstanding results in the other events. They support the Government in continuing its various policy measures for facilitating sports development in Hong Kong to achieve the objectives of promoting sports in the community, supporting elite sports development and making Hong Kong a centre for major international sports events.
