Tuesday, June 15, 2021 – Members of the media are invited to 3 separate activities related to the Centre Block rehabilitation project. 

Media pool
In advance of Thursday’s technical briefing, members of the Parliamentary Press Gallery are invited to a bilingual guided tour of the Centre Block on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Spokespeople from Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) will provide the tour. Please note that space is limited to adhere to COVID-19 restrictions and that face coverings are mandatory. 

Date: Wednesday, June 16, 2021

Meeting time: 8:45 am

Location: Meeting point is Queen’s Gates, Parliament Hill

Duration: Approximately 3 hours, including health and safety briefing

Important information
Note that the tour may be physically challenging. Expect to climb steep scaffolding staircases and walk through narrow and low-ceiling areas. Also expect potentially high summer temperatures.

A mandatory health and safety briefing will be provided, and protective equipment (boots, hard hat, glasses, gloves and vest) will be distributed on-site before the tour. To that end, boot sizes are required in advance for those attending. Long pants are also required for health and safety reasons.

Technical briefing
Members of the media are invited to a technical briefing on the Centre Block rehabilitation project on Thursday, June 17, 2021. Spokespeople from PSPC will provide an update on the project and answer questions. Please note that a video will be shown during the presentation.

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Public Services and Procurement, along with Parliamentary Secretary Steven MacKinnon, will hold a virtual press conference on Thursday, June 17, 2021. They will speak about the Centre Block rehabilitation project and answer questions.
