HERRIN, IL, June 03, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ — Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Williams F. Hays with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Hays celebrates many years’ experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
While attending secondary school, Dr. Hays had to have his appendix removed, and was greatly impressed by his surgeon and family doctor, who inspired him to pursue a career in medicine in his own right. Before venturing on his professional journey, however, he received a Bachelor of Arts from Southern Illinois University and a Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University. Following these accomplishments, Dr. Hays became certified with the American Board of Family Practice, and completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Illinois Methodist Medical Center.
Dr. Hays entered private practice in Herrin, Illinois, 1980. He has also served as the staff president of Herrin Hospital since 1983. Adjacent to these roles, Dr. Hays has found success as a clinical assistant professor of family practice at the University of Illinois.
Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Hays is most proud to have served on behalf of so many patients, including a woman who had just given birth to an unresponsive baby as he was passing through the obstetrics department. In the right place at the right time, he succeeded at resuscitating the child. Years later, Dr. Hays encountered the woman once again at a restaurant, who informed him that her child had grown to become happy and healthy.
For his efforts over the years, Dr. Hays received the John A. Logan Men’s Health Conference Champion Award, and was named as the Citizen of the Year by the Herrin Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Physician of the Year by the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians. He was also recognized as the Southern Illinois Medical Society’s Favorite Son, and has been listed among the Consumers Research Council Americans Top Family Doctors. In order to remain aware of developments in his field, he has maintained his affiliation with the Illinois Medical Society, the Williamson County Medical Society, the Illinois Association of Family Practice, the Illinois State Medical Society and the American Medical Association.
