FREDERIKSBERG, DENMARK, May 27, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ — Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Jan Buch, MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Buch celebrates many years’ experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
An eminently talented cardiologist and internal medicine physician, Dr. Buch has since retired from the field. Having developed a deep specialization in cardiovascular research development in the pharmaceutical industry, he concluded his career with Pfizer Inc. at their New York City headquarters in 2009 where he worked for 17 years ending as a senior medical director and global team leader of cardiovascular. He also spent four years as a medical director in his home country of Denmark at its Copenhagen location between 1987 and 1991. Following his retirement, Dr. Buch continued to serve in a consulting capacity for Pfizer for another six years, until 2015, and has consulted part-time for several other leading pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Buch’s formative years began in 1969 at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, one of the largest hospitals in the country, in the department of cardiology and aviation medicine. As a researcher in the field of medicine, Dr. Buch has contributed numerous articles to various professional medical journals. He also notably holds the Pfizer’s Caduet patent, which, during its best year, sold for over $400 million in revenue. Caduet is a prescription drug that combines Norvasc and Lipitor, which treat cardiac conditions.
Born in Copenhagen, Dr. Buch later studied anatomy at Manchester University before receiving a Doctor of Medicine at Copenhagen University in 1969. He completed a medical and surgical residency shortly thereafter and became board certified in both cardiology and internal medicine. To remain aware of developments in the field, he is a member of several professional organizations, including the Danish Society of Internal Medicine and the Danish Cardiological Society, where he received numerous research grants between 1969 and 1987. Other memberships to his credit include the Danish Society of History, Literature and Art, the Danish-Japanese Society and the Danish Egyptological Society. He holds the largest private collection in Scandinavia of Japanese wood block books, which date back to 768 and include an impressive library of approximately 2,000 volumes. In 2005, Dr. Buch received a Pfizer Achievement Award for his work on the ASCOT Project.
