Drawing inspiration from the example of his father, a distinguished psychiatrist, Dr. Clark felt compelled to pursue a similar path, and earned a Bachelor of Science in pre-medicine from Penn State University and a Doctor of Medicine from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in 1975. He subsequently completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation through Thomas Jefferson University Hospital before securing a position as a staff physiatrist at Strong Memorial Hospital. Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Clark gained valuable expertise in directorial, academic and clinical roles with Monroe Community Hospital, the University of Rochester’s School of Medicine & Dentistry, the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, Neurorehab Associates Inc., Specialized Rehabilitation Services Inc., Park Ridge Hospital and more.
Supported by his professional expertise, Dr. Clark excels today as the program director of the physical medicine and rehabilitation residency for Case Western Reserve University and MetroHealth Medical Center, where he also works as the associate chief medical officer for education, the medical director of therapy services, the vice chair of the graduate medical education committee and the chair of the continuing medical education committee. In his various roles, he diagnoses, evaluates and treats patients with physical disabilities and directs the amputee rehabilitation program.
Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Clark furthered his education with a Master of Medical Management from Heinz School of Public Policy and Management in 2004, as well as a certificate to work as a physician executive. Additionally, he aligns himself with various organizations, including the Association of Academic Physiatrists and the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, through which he has served in leadership roles. In conjunction with his work, Dr. Clark contributes on behalf of his community through his local church and is a co-moderator for an academic leadership development program.
Due to his vast breadth of professional knowledge, Dr. Clark has contributed to a plethora of publications regarding the rehabilitation of patients. For his outstanding body of work, he has received consistent recognition through America’s Top Doctors and Cleveland’s Best Doctors, and was honored with an Outstanding Service Award through AAP and a Service Impact Award through Paradigm Catastrophic Care Management. Though his career has been suffused with highlights, he is especially proud to have made a difference in the lives of his patients. Looking toward the future, Dr. Clark aims to retire and spend more time with his grandchildren.
