~Aims to impact Seven target villages in Neemrana Tehsil with 4.9 lakh KL
water rechargethrough 17 new watershed replenishment structures~
Water replenishment structures include mini percolation tanks, village ponds,
check dams, recharge hafts as well as piezometer devices to monitor and measure
the impact at existing bore wells.
The association is a testament to AB InBev’s commitment to its 2025 global
sustainability goal to improve water access and quality in high-stress
communities.
Rajasthan, October 2020: Anheuser Busch InBev (AB InBev), the world’s leading brewer
today announced its partnership with LetsEndorse and Arpan Seva Sansthan to develop
watershed replenishment structures in Alwar district, Rajasthan. This association reinforces
AB InBev’s commitment to achieve its 2025 global sustainability goals to ensure measurably
improved water availability and quality in high-stress areas.
Building onthe progress of ‘Project Sinchan’, that was launched in 2019, this initiative in
partnership with LetsEndorse—a community platform that engages public and private
stakeholders to create an ecosystem that drives social changeand Arpan Seva Sansthan —
a non-profit organization dedicated to developing an optimal mechanism for Rural
Society—will positively impact seven villages in the Neemrana Tehsil. These villages are
located around the company’s RBL Brewery in the Alwar District. One of the most significant
objectives of this initiative was achieved earlier this year with a water recharge of 4.9 lac KL.
by establishing 17 watershed replenishment structures including anicut, mini percolation
tanks, village ponds, recharge hafts, check dams and gabion structures to name a few.Five
additional structures will be constructed foran additional recharge capacity of more than 1.0
lac KL by the end 2020.
Commenting on this initiative, Gagandeep Sethi, VP Supply & Logistics – South Asia,
AB InBev said, “We are deeply connected to the communities where we live and operate.
We recognize that water availability is critical for people to thrive and —continues to be a
challenge across several areas in the state of Rajasthan facing acute shortage of water
where the share of available surface and ground water withdrawn is more than recharge. We
are delighted to partner with like-minded organizations like LetsEndorse and Arpan Seva
Sansthan to mobilize our resources and improve the water available in thesecommunities.
We are committed to address these pressing water challenges and making measurable
progress forms an important part of our global sustainability goals.”
In addition to implementing watersheds, this collaboration isfocused on empowering
communities to make responsible choices when it comes to water conservation. To achieve
this,a ‘Ridge to Valley’ approach is being adopted that focusses on conserving every drop of
water starting at the ridge while reducing both the surface run-off volume and the velocity of
water.
Sharing details on the partnership Varun Kashyap, Co-Founder, LetsEndorse, said, “It
is intriguing to mobilize social innovations to solve social challenges that exists in

communities. Keeping in mind the geography, demography, habit, culture and behavior of
the community, defining and implementing the right solution is of utmost important. With
ABInBev, the partnership will lead to specific learnings that can be deployed for scalable
projects pan India.”
In order to yield evidence-based learnings, two piezometer devices implemented in existing
bore wells at two villages will help effectively monitor the ground water table profile over a
period of time. The behavior of the water table profile prepared from the data collected over
a period of time will help in establishing the efficacy of the water recharge structure created.
AB InBev has been at the forefront of water stewardship, leading several security initiatives
across the country. This includes improving water efficiency within breweries by adopting a
rigorous water management program and state-of-the-art technologies for Zero Liquid
Discharge like Electro Dialysis Reversal, Multi Effect Evaporators and Wastewater recovery
plants. By recycling wastewater to portable standards and reusing this for non-production
purposes such as at cooling towers, for floor cleaning and gardening as per the company’s
global water usage standards, the RBL brewery has reduced water consumption by 30%
over the last few years. AB InBev has also deployedwatershed management around its
facilities in Rajasthan, Haryana and Telangana along with water harvesting and
management activities with barley farmers through its Smart Barley program. The company
has also spearheaded the setting up of Water Health Centers in Bengaluru, which has been
instrumental in providing water access to over 100,000 people in high-risk areas.
