KENT, UK, 14 September 2020: Densitron, the global leader in innovative Human Machine Interaction (HMI) and display technology, has announced a new long-term partnership with measurement and monitoring specialist Bridge Technologies. Together the two companies will offer broadcast customers advanced solutions for the display and analysis of standard-based IP video streams that combine the functionality of Densitron’s IDS (Intelligent Display System) platform with Bridge Technologies’ software and hardware systems for broadcast measurement and monitoring.

Reuben Such, Global Business Director of Densitron IDS, reveals that the first conversations about a possible collaboration with Oslo-based Bridge Technologies took place during IBC 2019: “We realised that the integration of our IDS platform with their acclaimed VB440 IP probe would provide a great combined solution for the monitoring and performance analysis of ST2110 and ST2022-6 video and audio streams. For instance, this allows users to access sub-2 frame previews of these streams as well as vector scope images and other rendered waveforms.”

Streaming information and granular waveforms can then be distributed via HTML5 or the WebAssembly JavaScript platform. It is also possible to embed this information into IDS and have the system “act as a control wrapper around the VB440. So, as well as providing a monitoring solution for the VB440, users are able to tap into the full toolkit of IDS as well,” explains Such.

Whilst a proof-of-concept (POC) based around this integration is now approaching completion and will constitute the initial focus of the Densitron/Bridge Technologies partnership, other potential areas of collaboration are under consideration. “Lockdown has given us the chance to talk at length, and these discussions have highlighted some other areas in which we could work together,” says Such, who expects details of the first specific VB440/IDS deployments to be revealed “within the next few months”.

Simen K. Frostad, Chairman of Bridge Technologies, welcomed the collaboration and commented, “The VB440 has already proven itself to be an indispensable tool in obtaining real-time IP packet behavioral analytics when transporting uncompressed ST2110 and ST2022-6 video and audio. The IP probe’s integration with Densitron’s IDS platform means customers can benefit from a powerful and responsive combined solution for monitoring and analysis, as well as the chance to take advantage of IDS’ extensive additional functionality.”

Existing users of the Densitron IDS platform will be able to benefit from the integration with the VB440 via a software upgrade to be made available in the near future.
