Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Texas organize numerous academic success programs for kids in Killeen, TX. It consists of activities and opportunities for students to develop important skills, engage in reading and learning, work with technology and advance towards post-secondary education.
The club was founded with an aim to provide kids with a safe space to learn and grow into responsible adult professionals with a good character and a healthy lifestyle. At present, it serves youth by engaging them in life-enhancing programs.
Academic Success Programs
Career Launch: It helps teens to improve their skills to search for jobs with the help of CareerLaunch Facilitator Guide and working with other members individually or in small groups.
Diplomas to Degrees: A college readiness program that provides guidance for career success, post-secondary education, and high school graduation.
DIY STEM: An activity-based STEM curriculum.
Image Makers: It teaches club members about the alternative process, color, digital and black-and-white photography. It encourages participation in local and regional competitions.
Money Matters: It helps to spread financial literacy amongst students (budgeting, managing a checking account, savings, investing, etc.).
National Fine Arts Exhibit: This program includes local and regional exhibits of printmaking, drawing, mixed media, collage, sculptures, painting, etc.
Power Hour: Making Minutes Count: The program includes homework help, high-yield learning activities, tutoring and self-directed learning with the help of dedicated youth development professionals.
Project Learn: It consists of leisure reading, discussions with adults, homework help, helping others, writing activities, tutoring games such as Scrabble, etc. for developing cognitive skills.
Summer Brain Gain: It is comprised of one-week project-based modules of fun and themed activities that foster learning via creative expression, final project/production, discovery and group work.
