FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation) USA Chapter President Kellee Buhler announced the appointment of Atlanta/Southeast Council President Hugh Gilliam as her Vice President of Local Councils.

Hugh Gilliam was first sworn in as a board member for FIABCI-USA this past weekend. He was then appointed to the executive committee with responsibility of vice president of all USA local councils. As head of the Atlanta/Southeast Council, the membership has doubled since its founding less than a year ago.

The announcement and swearing in was officially completed at the FIABCI International Symposium, held in New York City April 26-28, 2019. An Installation Gala for the incoming FIABCI officers was held in the Manhattan Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Friday evening, April 26, 2019.
Gilliam, one of just a few real estate professionals from the Southeast region who, alongside invitation-only attendees from dozens of countries, was there based on his international and domestic knowledge of the real estate industry.

FIABCI is a worldwide business network of real estate professionals involved in the property industry in some capacity. This enables its members to maximize business opportunities by networking and sharing information and contacts on local, national and international levels. FIABCI members are located in more than 70 countries.

“The International Real Estate Federation is an amazing organization I have belonged and contributed to for years,” explains Atlanta Communities Realtor Hugh Gilliam, who has been in real estate more than 20 years. “It really opens you up to the international possibilities in real estate and is an excellent way to make contacts in the field from around the world.”

International Symposium topics covered included wealth tracking, cash flows, economic insights around the world, global trends in architecture and design, the hottest places to purchase real estate and invest in infrastructure, the tax implications for offshore investing, and several panels highlighting regions where major real estate opportunities exist.
Gilliam is one of only a handful of metro Atlanta agents to belong to the International Real Estate Federation and is one of the first Realtors in Georgia to hold the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation. It is one of several continuing education, real estate designations Gilliam has earned to stay current in the changing real estate business.

He has traveled to numerous destinations around the globe for FIABCI events, including Panama and Hawaii. Next stop for Gilliam will be Moscow, Russia, in late May for the 70th Annual FIABCI International Conference.
