Augsburg, March 27, 2019 – meteocontrol GmbH has attracted a new international cooperation partner: Touchsky. The company based in the Brazilian state of São Paulo is now selling meteocontrol”s solutions for monitoring and controlling solar systems throughout Brazil. In doing so, meteocontrol is successfully continuing to pursue its internationalization activities, thus bolstering its overall market presence in Latin America. With locations in Chile and El Salvador, the leading provider of independent monitoring solutions is already meeting the strong demand in Spanish-speaking PV markets ranging from Mexico to Chile.
“Through partnerships with leading international companies, we want to promote solar energy in Brazil, while benefiting from their expertise and experience,” said Nataly Horner, the Managing Director of Touchsky. “This will enable us to implement PV projects using state-of-the-art technology, while making it easier for our partners to become established in the Brazilian market. Therefore, we look forward to working together with meteocontrol. The solutions for monitoring and grid feed-in management are being used around the world and are counted among the groundbreaking monitoring systems available in the PV market.”
Brazil”s solar energy sector is reporting significant growth: In 2017, the installed power of PV systems expanded more than tenfold. In 2018, it had reached a level of 2.3 gigawatts. About 1 gigawatt is to be added every year. Furthermore, according to the 10-year plan of the energy planning agency EPE (Empresa de Pesquisa Energetica), total power output is intended to reach about 10 gigawatts by the end of 2026. The largest country in Latin America meets all of the criteria for a booming PV market: Brazil”s daily solar irradiance level ranks fifth in the world, and the country is determined to effectively use this power: By 2040, solar energy should be the source of 20 percent of the country”s power.
“Given its development potential, Brazil”s PV market is still in the early stage. This provides us with an ideal starting point for market penetration: With Touchsky, we have a local partner who can support us in the country”s national language, Portuguese. This is important, as it enables us to accompany the customer from the planning to commissioning phase and to quickly connect PV systems to the power grid,” said Martin Schneider, the Managing Director of meteocontrol.
With the blue”Log X-Series for monitoring and plant control, meteocontrol offers solutions that meet country-specific connection rules, precisely control active and reactive power, thus improving grid integration. In the cloudbased monitoring platform VCOM, system operators and investors receive comprehensive analysis and have a sophisticated alarm management system when it comes to reduced performance and defects. As part of the technical operation of distributed systems, the SCADA Center of meteocontrol visualizes all measured values on a local and real-time basis to facilitate a fast, efficient response in the event of an error. To meet special EPE regulations, meteocontrol offers weather stations particularly for the Brazilian market.
