A Marathon dedicated to the CRPF jawan

Condoling the terror attack in Pulwama, Suraj School, Sector 56 organized a marathon to pay homage to 40 CRPF jawans martyred in Pulwama. On 14th Feb, 40 CRPF paramilitary troopers were martyred while several others are battling for their lives after a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a bus carrying them in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

More than 150 students participated in the event with full dedication and enthusiasm, they ran from sector 56 Gurugram to sector 52A Butterfly Park Gurugram and then returning back to the school. The event took place from 6 am to 8 am. Children ran on the main road in the morning. The Marathon was divided into four formats- 1km, 3Km, 5Km, and 10 KM. The marathon was followed by the candle vigil to the soldiers who lost their lives in Pulwama attack.

A local resident Shristi of sector 52 who participated in the marathon said, “It was very emotional moment when I participated in the marathon that paid homage to our soldiers who martyred while guarding our nation. When something is organized for this kind of noble cause it adds infinite energy to the participants.”

The major objective of the marathon was to pay condolence for the CRPF Martyrs of Pulwama and to gather some funds for the donation for the martyrs’ family. The chief guest for the event was Sh Rakesh Daultabad, Social Worker and Politician. He said “It is a very big step of life to participate in a marathon and not to be intimidated by seeing so many adults and kids around. They are the next generation who will take over the reins of our nation. Well done Gurugram, great energy to run in the marathon. It was fantastic that all were here with so much of enthusiasm and energy and for the good cause. He also donated 1 lakh Rs for the good cause.”

Hector Ravinder Dutt, Joint Director of Suraj School said, “I salute to all the CRPFS jawans who lost their lives in the Pulwama attack. We wanted to help the families of the jawans so we decided to organize a marathon. Whatever will be the money that we collect from here, it will all be donated for a very good cause. It will be donated to the families of the Pulwama martyrs.”

A great success despite heavy rains. The enthusiasm and the spirit of the runners were so high that in spite of the bad weather they decided to run.
