Kempinski Hotel Bahía kicks off its Art Series 2019 with the talented international pianist Billy O’Brien on the 24th of January.

Estepona January 8th 2019 – Kempinski Hotel Bahia is delighted to welcome the talented international soloist and chamber pianist Billy O’Brien who will perform at the hotel on the 24th of January.
Billy O’Brien enjoys an active career as soloist and chamber musician. He made his concerto debut with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in 2016 playing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Other recent concerto appearances include the Ravel G major Piano Concerto at the National Concert Hall in Dublin and the Beethoven Triple Concerto at the National Opera House with Wexford Sinfonia. He has recently given solo recitals at the New Ross Piano Festival, the National Gallery Dublin, and was invited to perform at the Irish Embassy, Paris, as part of their Bloomsday celebrations.

Billy has collaborated with leading contemporary music ensemble, Kirkos, and also the Killeena Ensemble, performing concerts in Turku, Finland. He has participated in many masterclasses and festivals, such as the Engadin International Piano Academy, with performances in St. Moritz, Switzerland, and the Clandeboye Festival (Belfast). Recent awards include First Prize in the Maura Dowdall concerto competition, the Teissier Piano Bursary from the Royal Irish Academy Music, and Second Prize in the Freemason’s Young Musician of the Year 2015.

He has twice represented Ireland in the Dublin International Piano Competition. Billy completed a BA in Piano Performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and graduated with First Class Honours. He spent two years studying with renowned Russian pedagogue Rena Shereshevskaya at the Rueil Malmaison Conservatoire, Paris, where he was awarded a Prix de Perfectionnement, and the Prix d’Excellence as the highest placed piano student. He is currently pursuing Doctoral study at the RIAM.

Billy will perform at Kempinski Hotel Bahia on the 24th of January at 19.30, hosted in the Arts Foyer on the 4th floor, tickets cost 20€ and spaces are limited. Entry includes a pre-concert welcome drink.
