Mendis spins India out of the match

Mendis bowled a dream spell against India. His 8 overs were enough for India to lose the match. He picked 6 of top Indian batsmen.

Sehwag was going great guns with 60 off just 36 balls with 12 fours. Mendis got him stumped by Sangakkara. India lost three quick wickets with Yuvraj bowled out for duck, and in-form Raina gone for a duck, in his 3 overs costing just 7 runs.

It was a really magic spinning spell of mysterious new spinner Mendis. He was deliberately rested against India in the league game to prevent Indians from picking him. The next victim of Mendis was Rohit Sharma leg before wicket for just 3.

Struggling Uthappa could hardly survive 41 balls for his 20 before Muralidharan caught him plum before the wicket.

Mendis then came back to first get Irfan Pathan caught behind on the first slip by captain Jayawardene. His next ball saw R P Singh losing his off-stump.

Dhoni tried salvaging some respect for Indian team but he picked out by Sangakkara off the bowling of accurate Chaminda Vaas.

The last bit of Indian tail wagged a bit but it was really all over by then. India was all out with over 10.3 overs to bowl and 100 runs behind target.

This means that India keeps the dubious record of just winning twice off 20 finals it has been in the last few years.
