Guru Poornima should be called Vyas Poornima: Swami Ramswarup
Swami Ramswarupji of Ved Mandir has stated that Guru Poornima, which falls on July 18th this year, should be called Vyas Poornima. On this day Vyas Muni completed writing of all four Vedas for the benefit of the world.
Before Vyas Muni had done classification of Vedas, they were bestowed in the memory of learned and aspirants. His effort has lead to preservation of Vedas, which can now be printed on printed press.
To write Vedas on 'bhoj patra', Vyas Muni was in a secluded place deep in meditation. When he came back in public and gave them 'darshan' after completing his writing, his disciples celebrated the day as Vyas Poornima.
According to Swami Ramswarupji, the day is the day of Vedas. On this day everyone should think of Vyas Muni and his contribution towards preserving Vedas. Ideal way to celebrate the day is to organise Yajyen of four Vedas.
He also said that Vyas Poornima should be celebrated by only those who follow Vedas. However, nowadays every Guru seems to celebrate it without regard to Vedas.
Ved Mandir, Yol Camp, will host Yajyen of four Vedas on July 18th on Vyas Poornima. Attending the function is totally free and is open to all faiths.
General public can ask Swamiji questions on topics of their interest, free of cost, at www.vedmandir.com.
