Asahi Kasei Microdevices Introduces Sensor Solutions at PCIM Europe 2019

Düsseldorf, April 23, 2019 – Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) presents itself at PCIM Europe – the world’s leading exhibition and conference for power electronics, intelligent motion, renewable energy as well as energy management – taking place from May 7-9 in Nuremberg, Germany. Sensor solutions for various applications constitute the focus of this year’s presentation.

With its first-time appearance at PCIM Europe, Asahi Kasei Microdevices, a subsidiary of the Japanese technology group Asahi Kasei, continues to strengthen its activities on the European market. With semiconductors and sensors, the company provides cutting-edge solutions to various industries ranging from home/building/factory automation to automotive. The product range includes current sensors with current ratings from 5A to 180A and response time of less than 1us. The company’s fast and accurate current sensors are key components in several power electronics systems.

Coreless Current Sensor
One highlight are the coreless current sensors of the “CZ370x” series, which comply with the product safety standard UL61800-5-1 and feature a current detection range from 5A to 180A. Next to the maximum effective current of 60arms and low primary conductor resistance, the series’ fast response time characteristics of less than 1us stand out. The stray magnetic field effect reduction ability and the fast response characteristics will be demonstrated at the booth, where visitors can convince themselves of the sensors’ performance.

With the “AK310x”, Asahi Kasei Microdevices also exhibits the newest addition to the coreless current sensor family, with the industry’s highest level of low-noise characteristics.

High Precision Rotation Angle Sensor
In addition, the company shows the “AK7454”, a high precision 14-bit rotation angle sensor. Compared with optical encoders, it has a high environmental resistance against dust and oil, which contributes to the efficiency of the assembly process. Additionally, a 0.1° angle error accuracy is accomplished with the company’s unique angle correction function when it is mounted on a motor unit. Visitors are invited to attend demonstrations of the high accuracy compensation with a corrected angular error.

3D Magnetic Sensor
Another highlight is a demonstration of the 3D magnetic sensor “AK09970N”. As the world-leading manufacturer of electronic compass ICs used in smartphones, Asahi Kasei Microdevices is increasing the scope of a new 3-axis magnetic sensing solution by taking advantage of the technology cultivated from the electronic compass. Based on the company’s compass technology, the measurement range of the “AK09970” is widely expanded to optimize the magnetic field detection of the magnet, which is suitable for security and controller applications.

Asahi Kasei Microdevices exhibits in Hall 7, Booth 539. In addition to this, Business Development Manager Takahiro Ezaki is giving a lecture on “The Next Generation Current Sensors” on Tuesday, May 7, from 2.20 to 2.40 p.m. (in the exhibitor forum, Hall 7).

About Asahi Kasei Microdevices

Sify reports Revenues of INR 21547 Million for Financial Year 2018-19

EBITDA for the year stood at INR 3122 Million
Net Profit for the year was INR 1069 Million
The Board has recommended a dividend of 12%
MANAGEMENT COMMENTARY

Mr. Raju Vegesna, Chairman, said, “The last two years has seen private Indian enterprises, and the government, rethink the role of IT within their organisation. While there is continued aggression in their adoption, we are seeing a distinct maturity in the profile of services being contracted. The wisdom to contract with a single service provider is also allowing global MNCs entering India to shrink their go-to-market time.
Our focus, this upcoming year, will be to solicit disruptive contracts that would help us build a unique portfolio of knowledge-driven Cloud and Managed services”
Mr. Kamal Nath, CEO, said, “With Cloud@Core at the heart of most of our service lines, over the past year, we have been able to establish our strategic relevance to customers in their Digital Transformation journey. Today we are one of the few Indian companies which serves the entire cloud spectrum of Cloud Enabling, Cloud Inspired, Cloud Pure and Cloud Enhanced services.
These have also strongly supported the growth of our Telecom business around the SD WAN, Cloud Interconnects and Intelligent Edge networks.”
Mr. M P Vijay Kumar, CFO, said, “Our revenue growth is lower than the prior year due primarily to the expiration of a large government multi-year services contract. Excluding this impact, the overall revenue growth was in line with last year’s growth. In line with our focus on cash management, we are also taking a conscious business decision to reduce exposure to contracts with extended working capital cycle. The network and data center services continue to see demand and we are expanding on the capacity. We continue to make investments in our people and tools that complement digital transformation services for our clients. We will, as in the past, keep a tight leash on our costs and the turnaround time.
The Board has recommended a dividend of 12 % subject to approval from shareholders.
Cash balance at the end of the year was INR 2248 Million”

New VPN On Demand and Kill Switch features

We are pleased to announce that recently we have implemented a new feature for iOS, Android and macOS apps called VPN on Demand (Auto-reconnect on disconnect). This feature can be found in the Settings screen of the app and when switched on, ensures that your VPN connection is maintained in case of any disconnects as long as Internet connectivity is available. This is especially useful on mobile phones when changing from Wi-Fi to 3G/4G and back.

Benefits of the new feature:

– Auto-reconnect if VPN connection drops
– Ensures that no data is leaked from your device in case of VPN connection drop
– Replaces and/or complements Kill Switch functionality by immediately reconnecting to VPN
– Uses in-built VPN On Demand feature of iOS and macOS operating systems
– Continuously scans for Internet connectivity to reconnect the VPN on Android devices
– We are also working on introducing this feature to Windows desktop application in the near future.

Please note we’ve also released a Kill Switch feature for macOS app which ensures your data remains private in case the VPN connection drops. Kill switch acts as a safety line to ensure that no packets escape form your mac in case VPN connection is interrupted.
