Social Mobility Youth Charity Receives Funding from the Eveson Trust

CoachBright CEO delighted to win financial support from The Eveson Trust towards the social and emotional benefit of disadvantaged young people in W. Midlands.

BIRMINGHAM, U.K.Oct. 30, 2023PRLog — CoachBright Charitable Trust are delighted to have received £ 15,000 in funding from The Eveson Trust towards the social and emotional benefit of disadvantaged young people and their families living in the West Midlands.

The Eveson Trust is funded by one of the largest bequests in Great Britain, made by Violet Mary Eveson, whose grandfather owned the largest hop farming area in Britain and possibly the world.

The grant will cover some of the core costs incurred from coaching disadvantaged young people to become more confident, independent and resilient so they can lead the lives they want.

Joe McGinn (CEO) said: “We are delighted to have received this grant, particularly as there are still only a few pioneering grant-making bodies that will support specific infrastructure costs. To have the support of The Eveson Trust at this stage of our development, when we are experiencing unprecedented demand but ever tighter budgets, helps us to maintain our support to young people at a critical time.”

“CoachBright is also supported by more than 1,000 volunteers, who are trained and then give their time to support vulnerable young people who are struggling at school. This coaching support enables young people to develop their social and emotional skills, aim for and achieve higher grades, and ultimately, to realise the only ceiling on their achievements is their ambition. We provide an essential early intervention system for those who have experienced adversity, to keep young people engaged, included, and empowered to reach their full potential.”

2. The majority of suspensions at school are given to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds – those living in poverty, or allocated a social worker – with the numbers rising by 75 per cent post-pandemic, analysis of recent Department of Education data has found.

3. 50% of mental health problems are established by age 14, according to the Mental Health Foundation (2023). These challenges can manifest or escalate during the secondary school transition period, emphasizing the need for early intervention. Young people need regular, safe spaces where they can discuss their concerns and anxieties and promote their emotional wellbeing, and this is what high quality coaching programmes can provide.

New Survey Reveals 3 in 4 Americans Don’t Think They’ve Made Smart Financial Decisions

SCOTCH PLAINS, N.J.Oct. 25, 2023PRLog — Life Insurance Awareness Month is drawing to a close and by now, most people will likely have seen at least one post or advertisement touting the importance of securing coverage.  Despite all that the industry has done to raise awareness of life insurance, new research underscores a disconnect in understanding what this coverage is really meant to do: financially protect our most valuable asset when we are gone – our family.

According to a new exclusive national survey commissioned by Jazmarc Services and conducted by Wired Research among 1,008 nationally representative Americans, there’s no denying that Americans care deeply about their family and their family’s financial future.  So much so that half (47%) of Americans report that every single decision they make is with their loved ones in mind.  And 1 in 3 (32%) think about their family’s future at least once a day.

In fact, 2 in 5, or nearly 102 million Americans, report that:

  • Most financial decisions they make for their family today are with the future in mind (41%)
  • They think it’s important to worry about their financial future right now (40%)

Even more want to ensure that their family’s security continues, especially when they are gone.  The survey found that when they are no longer here, 1 in 2 Americans:

  • Want to make sure their family is well taken care of (51%)
  • Never want their loved ones to worry about the family finances (45%)

Despite their care and concern for their family’s financial well-being, the survey reveals that 3 in 4 (72%) or more than 183 million Americans don’t think they’ve made smart financial decisions in their life.  Their lack of life insurance coverage affirms this.  A recent industry survey from LIMRA reveals that about half (48%) of Americans don’t have any type of life insurance – at all.

“The disconnect is truly glaring, but not surprising,” says Joshua Marcus, founder and managing member of Jazmarc Services, a boutique insurance brokerage.  He continues, “For many of us, it is difficult to shift our focus from what needs to happen today to what could be put off until tomorrow, and securing life insurance is one of those things that gets put on the ever-growing “to-do list”. “

And while more than 1 in 5 Americans report that buying a life insurance policy or adding to what they currently have is something they’ll get to eventually, tomorrow is never a guarantee.  In fact, 2 in 3 (66%) Americans acknowledge that the future is not promised to anyone.

That’s why Joshua advises all Americans – with and without coverage – to look closely at their options sooner than later.  He counsels, “One of the best and easiest ways to protect your family’s financial future is with life insurance.”

Prometheus Project Foundation & Hellenic American Project (HAP) Announce Collaboration

First collaborative project is a documentary feature film, “Diner, an American Institution”

“Diner, an American Institution” Documentary Film

NEW YORKOct. 24, 2023PRLog — The Prometheus Project Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the creation of insightful Media Programs aimed at educating, enlightening, and empowering the American public, is proud to announce its collaboration with Hellenic American Project (HAP) Queens College, in producing media projects that make a difference.

The first collaborative project is a documentary feature film, “Diner, an American Institution” which explores the profound influence of various ethnic groups on both American society and the food industry. At its heart, this joint endeavor seeks to conduct a historical and sociological examination of immigrant adaptability, integration, and interplay with cultural values, family bonds, and ethnic networks. “Diner, an American Institution” explores the rich history of American diners and the invaluable contributions made by immigrants from across the globe who served as chefs, waitstaff, bussers, and kitchen crew in shaping this culinary institution’s success.

The documentary will trace the evolution of diners from their humble beginnings as horse-drawn food carts catering to late-night factory workers through their transformation into stationary structures resembling rail cars equipped with electricity and open around the clock. It will also explore the era of streamlined Art Deco silver diners in the 1930s and their evolution into the contemporary large-scale restaurants we know today.

The Greek-American community has played a pivotal role in the diner’s history. This documentary will tell the story of how Greek-Americans have been instrumental in shaping diners into the iconic American eateries they are today. Historical records indicate that in the 1990s, approximately two-thirds of New York City’s 800 diners were owned by Greek Americans. Moreover, in New Jersey, widely regarded as the diner capital, the majority of diner owners are still of Greek descent.

“We are excited to tell this important story,” said Nicholas Alexiou, Director of the Hellenic American Project at Queens College. “This documentary will shed light on the contributions of Greek Americans to American culture and society.”

The documentary is expected to be completed by early 2024.

“DISCLAIMERVILLE” …A collection of some very scary disclaimers in everyday Advertising

Enclosed is a compilation of some very common and very scary disclaimers that might make you think twice about buying some of those products

SAN MATEO, Calif.Oct. 24, 2023PRLog — WELCOME TO “DISCLAIMERVILLE”

Copyright 2023, by an Advertising Executive named Robert Barrows

It was another fine day in

Disclaimerville, and here are some

interesting takes on some of the disclaimers

in some of the advertising I saw and heard today…

FIRST…let it be known that

Terms and Conditions Apply…

AND… YOUR PRICE MAY VARY

AND…Before you buy….

keep in mind that

Past Performance is not a

guide to future performance!

And of course…this ad is

For Entertainment Purposes Only.

And, keep in mind that it may also be…

Sponsored Content,

or, a message from

A paid, non-attorney spokesperson,

Or…a paid celebrity endorser.

AND FOR SOME OF THE MEDICAL ADS

I SAW TODAY (while they were showing videos

of families at picnics having fun)…

I heard some side effects like…

Strokes, Heart Attacks and Deaths have occurred…

This product is Not Recommended for Children…

And…when I went to a drug store

to look for some toenail fungus medicine,

there was a disclaimer on all of

the over-the-counter boxes of toenail

medicines I saw that actually said

“Not effective on nails.”

And then, on some toy ads…it said

Products may contain small parts

considered to be choking hazards…

So, please take this ad

For information and educational purposes only…

and of course…

Use at your own risk!

And, on a lighter note, from part of a

poem by an Advertising Executive

named Robert Barrows…

at least there was one disclaimer I could laugh to…

“If condition persists, consult a physician…

if boredom sets in, change your position.”

SO…WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE

(or most fearful) advertising and product disclaimers?

YOU CAN ADD YOUR DISCLAIMERS HERE…

…but be careful not to step on the toes of some of your past, present, and future clients, and be careful not to betray

any of your clients, bosses

and co-workers, too…

(In short…”Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.”)

SO…IS THIS WHAT WE HAVE TO LIVE WITH

FOR REAL TRUTH IN ADVERTISING?

I guess it’s always been Caveat Emptor…

and I guess it’s just another fine day

in Disclaimerville.

(Add your favorite disclaimers here)…
